Sugar is a very old product that is extracted from sugarcane. It is said that sugar cane was cultivated in India and was known to the Greeks and Romans as the honey of India. Here are the reasons to stop consuming sugar.

For the Chinese, for many years the process of extracting and refining sugarcane was already well known.

But did you know that nowadays all carbohydrates that dissolve in water are easily called sugar? They are colorless, odourless, usually crystallized and all have an obviously sweet taste.

Sugar is a highly addictive substance in the same way as drugs,  and it wreaks havoc on our body, since when we consume too much sugar, the immune system weakens for six hours, which makes us more vulnerable to germs and viruses.

On the other hand, sugar reduces the desire to eat foods that are nutritious like vegetables, which results in nutritional deficiencies.

What about over-consuming sugar?

Excessive sugar consumption is the main culprit in most of the illnesses that develop in our bodies.

The sugar we consume daily is artificial, which means that it does not contain any kind of vitamins and minerals that our bodies need.

From a nutritional point of view, sugar does not provide anything beneficial, on the contrary, it robs the body of minerals and vitamins.

It can also damage the metabolic processes of our body, as its excessive use brings many consequences to our health, and one of the best known is diabetes.

Some reasons not to consume refined sugar

Sugar can be addictive, it can even be as addictive as cocaine,  says endocrinologist Mr. Robert Lustig.

Another expert on the subject, Dr. Mehmet Oz, recently published a study where he says that when we eat sugars, it stimulates the release of dopamine in the brain, the neurotransmitter that makes us feel pleasure.

Excess sugar consumption increases the risk of suffering from cancer, being considered one of the causes of obesity and elevating insulin levels. And insulin causes cancer cells to reproduce.

Consumption of sugar is bad for your heart. When following a diet, you may think that everything you eat is healthy, but sweet foods in the diet can also be harmful.

Some studies suggest that diets high in sugar or with a high glycemic load are associated with an increased risk of suffering from heart disease.

Excessive sugar consumption is the cause of increased blood triglycerides, as it is a type of fat that stores additional sugar calories and lowers good cholesterol levels.

More reasons not to consume sugar

Sugar can damage the liver as it is one of the largest and most complex organs and also one of the main stores of glucose in the form of glycogen, since when you eat sugary foods or drinks, blood sugar increases and secretes insulin.

Finally, the liver processes the entire glycogen depot into fat.

Sugar can damage the brain.  Even some preliminary studies indicate that blood sugar can atrophy the areas of the brain responsible for memory.

Too much sugar can cause acne. The relationship between diet and acne is controversial, but studies have shown the relationship between high glycemic diets and acne.

These diets are generally high in sugars, as high blood sugar levels can trigger hormones that also cause increased fat secretion, which ultimately aggravates acne.

When we consume a lot of sugar, bacteria in the mouth feed and thus increases the possibility of cavities.
